Building a Working Policy for Distance Education by Connie L. Dillon,
Distance education offers the potential to further the mission of the community college in significant ways. However, the practice of education will not change without corresponding changes in our fundamental views of teaching distance education community college and learning as these are reflected in the total of our state, federal, distance education community college and institutional policies. In many ways the community college offers other sectors of higher education a vision for the future. This issue presents some of the policy issues confronting higher education in the age of distance learning distance education community college and discusses the implications of these issues for the community college. Trends in the Community College Curriculum by Gwyer Schuyler,
Community colleges enroll close to 50 percent of all students who begin higher education in the United States. Consequently, what happens at these institutions affects the course of study, the progress, distance education community college and the nature of learning for nearly half of all postsecondary students. This issue presents a detailed picture of the national community college curriculum, using survey data collected in 1998 by the Center for the Study of Community Colleges. Chapters analyze approaches to general education, vocational course offerings, the liberal arts, multicultural education, ESL, honors programs, distance education community college and distance learning, considering underlying philosophies, design, distance education community college and content of requirements. This is the 108th issue of the quarterly journal "New Directions for Community Colleges.

Community college - In Canada and the United States, a community college, sometimes called a junior college, is an educational institution providing post-secondary education and lower-level tertiary education, granting certificates, diplomas, and associate's degrees. As the region's new comprehensive community college, Ozarks Technical Community College provided an open admission, two-year college with a focus on technical education.
